All volunteers are required to complete:

• Volunteer registration in Sports Connect
• Annual background check
• Little League Abuse Awareness Training

Important: If you have already signed up as a volunteer inside your Canal account, skip to Step 15 under the Background Check section.

Step 1 – Register as a Volunteer

1. Go to www.CanalLittleLeague.org.
2. Click LOGIN if you already have an account or REGISTER if you need to create one.
3. Note: Each volunteer must have their own account in the system.
4. Enter the required information.
5. Select VOLUNTEER on the left side of the screen.
6. Select FIND VOLUNTEER ROLES.
7. Select the sport you wish to volunteer for.
8. Select the divisions you wish to volunteer for and click VIEW SELECTED OPPORTUNITIES.
9. Select the desired role.
10. Determine if you are signing up a registered user or a new user.
11. Select the registered user or enter the information for the new user.
12. Click CONTINUE.
13. Complete the Volunteer Application Form. You will need to upload a government issued ID.
14. Click CONTINUE. Your name and volunteer role should now appear in Sports Connect.
15. You will receive an email confirming your volunteer registration.

Step 2 – Complete Your Background Check

15. Within 1–2 days after signing up as a volunteer you will receive an email from Canal Little League with a link to complete your background check.
16. You must follow the link in the email and consent to the electronic signature and background verification.
17. Please complete this as soon as possible. You will only have 7 days to complete it.
18. Once completed you will receive an email confirmation for your records.
19. You will not receive the background check results directly.

Step 3 – Complete Abuse Awareness Training

In addition to the background check, this training is mandatory for all Little League volunteers. Anyone who does not complete this training will be ineligible to manage, coach, keep score, or assist the team or league.

1. Go to www.LittleLeague.org/AbuseAwareness.
2. If it is your first time logging in, click CREATE AN ACCOUNT.
3. Fill in the registration information and search for CANAL LL under "Your Associated League".
4. Login to the training portal.
5. Select ABUSE AWARENESS 2026 and click ENROLL.
6. Select Volunteer or League Official (if you are a Board member).
7. Complete the course (approximately 25 minutes).
8. Take the quiz at the end. You must score at least 80% to pass.
9. Download the completion certificate and email it to [email protected].
